چکیده

The Banyumas Basin is a tertiary sedimentary basin located in southern Central Java, Indonesia. Due to the presence of volcanic deposits, 2-D seismic reflection methods cannot provide good estimation sediment thickness and subsurface geology structure this area. In study, passive tomography (PST) method was applied image 3-D Vp, Vs, Vp/Vs ratio. We used 70 seismograph borehole stations with recording duration 177 days. A total 354 events 9, 370 P 368 S phases were as input for tomographic inversion. checkshot data 4, 400-meter deep exploration well (Jati-1) within network constrain shallow crustal layer initial 1-D velocity model. model resolution inversions assessed using checkerboard test (CRT), diagonal element (DRE), derivative weight sum (DWS). Using obtained ratio, we able sharpen details geological structures from previous studies, fault could be well-imaged at depth 4 km. interpreted main dextral strike-slip that controls pull apart process Basin. layers, its layering, also determined. found prominent features contrast aligned very boundary between Halang Rambatan formations observed Jati-1 data. Furthermore, an anticline structure, which potential structural trap petroleum system Basin, imaged. This made possible due dense seismographic deployed study

Travel Time Inversion in Seismic Tomography

The word tomography finds its origins in the two Greek words tomos, meaning section, and graphy, which translates as drawing. There are many different types of tomography used in many sciences such as medicine, biology, materials science and geology. The basic idea of tomography in all of its uses is to obtain a cross-section of an object which will then be used to infer various facts regarding...

Adaptation of Back Projection Tomography to Seismic Travel Time Problems

A back projection method of reconstruction is adapted to invert seismic travel time data for velocity structure. Adaptations are made so that the inhomogeneous and anisotropic ray sets and the threedimensional geometries commonly dealt with in seismic experiments can be handled with greater success. Jacobi iteration, deconvolution, and ray weighting work well in augmenting the basic back projec...

Distributed travel-time seismic tomography in large-scale sensor networks

Current geophysical techniques for visualizing seismic activity employ image reconstruction methods that rely on a centralized approach for processing the raw data captured by seismic sensors. The data is either gathered manually, or relayed by expensive broadband stations, and then processed at a base station. This approach is time-consuming (weeks to months) and hazardous as the task involves...

Seismic tomography using travel-time surfaces for experiments in the laboratory

Abstract In this paper, seismic tomography using travel-time surfaces was performed for synthetic sediment samples in the laboratory. Travel-time surfaces were used for visualization of the data as well as for quality control. Tomographic experiments were first conducted on numerical test data and then on observed data recorded in the laboratory. For the observed data, the construction of trave...

Wave-equation-based travel-time seismic tomography – Part 1: Method

In this paper, we propose a wave-equation-based travel-time seismic tomography method with a detailed description of its step-by-step process. First, a linear relationship between the travel-time residual 1t = T − T syn and the relative velocity perturbation δc(x)/c(x) connected by a finite-frequency travel-time sensitivity kernel K(x) is theoretically derived using the adjoint method. To accur...
